Dr. Seuss | Coffin Stash Boxes

Dr. Seuss art harkens to the dark inner recesses of any creative youth’s surreal perspective of imaginative character creation. Green Eggs and Ham is one of my all time favorite Seuss books. Perhaps the most finite of Seuss’s work hinges on the respective craft of an author who can produce a children’s book that appeals to the adult mind and bares a nostalgia that lasts a lifetime to readers. Beery Method Studios created an entire line of Seuss Coffin Stash Boxes for Dr. Seuss art collectors and utilitarian traders of all ages. 


Sam-I-Am will forever be that cute but pushy little character that pesters an unnamed man to taste his green eggs and ham. The man declines, claiming to dislike his green eggs and ham. However, the persistent Sam-I-Am will not cease following the man around and trying to encourage him to try the green eggs and ham, asking him if he will sample the dish if he does it in various locations (boat, rain, dark, train, tree, car, box, house, here or there or anywhere) and with an assortment of animals (goat, fox, mouse). At the end, the man gives in to Sam-I-Am’s pestering and takes a bite of his green eggs and ham, which he finds he does indeed like.


Each Dr. Seuss Coffin Stash Box is decorated differently making each and every box unique not only in paint application and effects, but with the original vintage book cutting collages as well. All boxes are faceted with dissected printed works from the original Green Eggs and Ham publication and formulate new illustration from the clippings. Most boxes also contain a quote or several lines from the book such as “With a goat!” or “I would not, could not eat Green Eggs and Ham!”. All boxes are hand made from wood, are hinged with a clasp lock, and are roughly 2.5″ deep, 4″ high, and 3″ wide. Every box is signed by Beery and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
